On Sunday, July 9, 2000, my grandson's life changed forever when he dove into shallow water at the City Beach and fractured his C5-6 vertebra (incomplete).  He is paralyzed from the chest down. He has limited movement in his arms - he has wrist movement.

This was a day-by-day story of his life since the accident.  Now, after  9 years, it has become an update site, where postings are contingent upon his progress/news.

Jake had been living in an assisted living apartment, but in June 2005 he moved into a group home and it has made a dramatic difference in the quality of his life.
 
 Minnesota is extremely friendly to the handicapped.

Jake turned 26 on May 17th (2009).  In 2004 he celebrated his 21st birthday in a nursing home.  In 2005  it was a hospital.  In 2007 he had a job and he loved it.  In 2008 and 2009 he is battling yet another skin ulcer.
