Summer 2007

Jake is planning a visit to Oconomowoc on July 7th.  It will be a  short visit - they'll be heading back on the following Monday.  He hasn't been home since Christmas of 2005.
He has no skin ulcers so he is able to make the very long drive.  With Jake in the van, there are frequent stops for position change.  The roof is low and he can't sit up straight in his chair.  The normal 6-7 hour drive turns into an 8-10 hour ordeal.

Jake works part time at the Salvation Army.  He had a 'rough' day yesterday... a girl asked him to stand by the dressing room door while she tried on bikinis.  She asked if he'd do that for her so she could get an opinion on how they looked.... she came out one at a time modeling them for him......
We are getting ready for his short visit.  We must take the screen door off so he can get into the house.  When it's open it blocks the ramp and he can't maneuver around it.  And we will place the small rubberized ramp on the porch.  This assures an easy and comfortable  transition into the house for him.
On Saturday we are planning a family day.  Since Jake hasn't been home since Christmas of 2005 there are a lot of hugs to catch up on.  :)
On Sunday he can hang out with his friends.  Well, at least that is the plan.  We'll see how this works out.
Monday morning they head back to Minnesota.
Now we pray that his UTI's and infections stay away long enough for him to make the trip.  It will be so disappointing if  he ends up in the hospital instead of Oconomowoc next weekend.

Jake has been battling another skin ulcer.  It is improving.  He reports it is now about 1/2 cm x 1 cm.  His diet has improved drastically and that is a consideration in the healing process.

Unfortunately he had to cut back on his work hours because he needs to be in bed, off the ulcer, for long periods of time.  He's doing great.
Tuesday, September 11

Jake is reporting that his wound is down to the size of a pencil tip.  This is his body's response to a healthy diet.
He is planning on attending the Renaissance Fair.  He is very excited about that.
