I just got off the phone with Jake's health care coordinator. She's at Region's now with him and he's going in for a CT scan as we speak. She said according to the specialists it appears that the bone may NOT be infected. Tissue etc looks very healthy and the new treatment seems to be working. The MRI wasn't as clear as he would like, so the doctor wants more tests. He seems to think that a partially dislocated hip (left) could be the cause of his current pain. They called because they wanted to know if he ever had a bone graft done. I looked on the website and it was in fact the left hip they harvested from. I also informed her about the bone debridement from last November. That all happened before she was involved with Jake so she didn't even know about it to inform the doctors. I think that one was done at Abbott?

I guess since he lays on the right side most of the time, the left knee drops and puts strain on the hip. They think the bone graft may have weakened the area enough to cause dislocation. He manually reduced the dislocation by pulling on it, and I guess Jake felt instant relief.

She said this is just speculation right now until they get the final word. Hopefully Jake won't be too tired later to fill me in.  (Sue: Jake too tired to talk? an oxymoron)

She also told me that they were putting him on a preventative care program for his UTI's. As I understood it, (I wasn't listening completely because I was searching for information for her off the website) he will have a 3 day dose of Cipro available to him to start if he suspects he has an infection. This will get him on something immediately to start working until they can get final results back from cultures/sensitivities.

She is a great advocate for Jake. I got her name and phone number for future reference if needed.
